- Biography -

In the 2024/2025 artistic season, Piotr Wacławik performed with world-renowned soloists such as Ivo Pogorelich, Bomsori, and Yulianna Avdeeva, as well as with orchestras across Europe and Asia.

He received a conducting fellowship with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, where he serves as assistant conductor during the 2024/2025 season. Previously, he held the same position at the Warsaw Philharmonic (2022–2024) and at the Aspen Music Festival and School (2024, Aspen Conductor Prize).

In 2022, he was awarded 3rd prize at the 7th Witold Lutosławski National Competition for Young Conductors. He is also a laureate of the following competitions: 1st prize at the 5th Atlantic Coast International Conducting Masterclass and Competition (2019), 1st prize at the London Classical Soloists International Conducting Masterclass and Competition (2018), 2nd prize and the Symphony Orchestra Award at the 2nd Adam Kopyciński National Conducting Competition in Wrocław. He also received a special prize at the 10th International Conducting Competition “Jeunesses Musicales” in Bucharest (2019). That same year, he made his U.S. debut at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he was honored with the Robert Spano Conductor Prize in both 2019 and 2022.

Piotr Wacławik refined his skills under the guidance of Jorma Panula, Leonard Slatkin, Alan Gilbert, Michail Jurowski, Cristian Măcelaru, Robert Spano, and Mark Stringer. He collaborated with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich during the 10th International Conducting Masterclass led by David Zinman.

He made his conducting debut at the age of 19 with the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In the 2019/2020 season, he served as resident conductor of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, a role he also held at the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic during the 2022/2023 season. He worked as an assistant conductor at the Silesian Opera (2019/2020) and the Krakow Opera (2020–2022).

In 2020, he graduated with honors from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, specializing in symphonic and opera conducting under Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, and viola da gamba under Krzysztof Firlus. Previously, he studied violin at the Wojciech Kilar State Music School Complex in Katowice.

He currently serves as an assistant in the conducting department at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
